How to use
Add and position text on a video
This tool adds fixed text to a video. It does not create automatic subtitles.
Upload a video
Choose an MP4, WebM, or MOV file up to 250 MB. The video stays on your device while you edit it.
Add a text box
Select Add text below the Player. Repeat this whenever you need another independent text box.
Edit and position the text
Double-click the text to type. Drag the text to move it. Drag a selection handle to make it larger or smaller. Use the controls below the Player to change its color or alignment.
Delete text when needed
Select a text box without editing it, then press Delete or Backspace. Only the selected text box is removed.
Preview and download
Play the video and check every text box. Select Download MP4 when the preview looks correct.

Leave space around the edges
Keep titles and lower thirds away from the outer edge and the main subject. Preview the full clip to check that moving faces, products, or controls do not pass behind your text.
Check contrast across the clip
A color that works on the first frame may disappear over a later scene. Scrub through both bright and dark moments, then adjust text color, size, or position for consistent readability.
Keep each text box focused
Use a short title, a name and role, or one call to action. Put separate ideas in separate boxes so you can adjust their hierarchy and alignment independently.

- Yes. Add as many independent text boxes as you need. Each one has its own content, position, size, color, and alignment.
- Can I move and resize text on the video?
- Yes. Drag the selected box itself to move it, or drag any border handle to scale the font and fitted box together. The preview updates immediately.
- Is this an automatic subtitle tool?
- No. This page adds fixed-position text overlays such as titles, labels, lower thirds, callouts, and watermarks.
- Does NarraCut upload my video?
- No. The video remains on your device while editing, preview playback, and MP4 rendering run locally in your browser.
- Which video files can I use?
- Choose an MP4, WebM, or MOV file up to 250 MB. Playback also depends on your browser’s support for the codecs inside the file. The finished download is an MP4.
- Will the exported video keep its original audio?
- Yes. The export includes the original video audio when the source contains an audio track. Preview the clip before downloading to check the sound and text together.
- Can I show a text box only during part of the clip?
- Text boxes in this editor stay visible for the full video. Use them for persistent titles, labels, lower thirds, or watermarks. For captions timed to a new narration, use Add Voiceover to Video.
- Are my text edits saved when I leave?
- This editor works with the video on your device and does not save the editing session to project history. Download the finished MP4 before refreshing or closing the page.
